Week of 9.24.18 - 9.30.18 - Content Optimization and Structure
Tuesday - 9.25.18
Today I switched from PicMonkey over to Canva. I’ve been using PicMonkey for maybe about 2 years (more or less) now. PicMonkey is nice and you have a lot of creative freedom, but I really like the optimization of Canva more due to the templates. So because it’s less time and it looks more professional I decided to switch gears to Canva. I also wanted to streamline my content.
I’ve been trying to figure out a way to streamline my content and I think I’m starting to hit a breaking point where my brain and what I want to do are starting to make connections. Thoughts and ideas are now turning into a structured plan that I can follow.
We are creatures of habit, and I am definitely a creature of habit. I need a schedule and I need things laid out for me to visually see in order for me to get things done. If I don’t have that structure, I feel lost. Which is also why this whole concept to share my journey has been like those plastic balls popping in those kiddy vaccumm toys bouncing around my brain. Aka scatter brained.
So a few resources that were helpful to me:
Wednesday - 9.25.18
I’m still learning to optimize my content. I want to bring value to everyone in the best way possible. In order for me to provide the most value I need to determine what my audience likes to see. I’ve noticed that my audience and views like to see my face more. Or at least it just seems that way because the things that I post, whether that is on YouTube, IG, FB or where ever, the posts that get the most engagement are posts that have me in it.
With that I because I want to promote and share the veg lifestyle, I need to figure out a way to integrate the two. Integrating myself and the veg passion in me. To do this, I am going to test posting photos of me WITH food 80 of the time and the other 20 I am going to post something not food related. I think this is because people want to connect with you/me not the food. To them they’re probably thinking, “cool, veg food…what’s new.” I need to find a creative way to integrate the two and this is my solution for now that I am going to test out!
Post 3 photos in a structure - food post, me value, promote video
After all this I need to learn how to analyze my Data. Social platforms have an analytic portion on the platform that can be utilized. Now I need to figure out a way read and use that data to work for me not against me.
I didn’t have much free time to research anything. I was so scatter brained that I was jumping from one thing to another. I’m slowly figure out a way to optimize my content. It’s just a matter of figuring out how I want to format and present things. This morning I thought about possibly starting a Podcast. So tomorrow that will be something I will have to research.
Since I have so many ideas, I decided to research the Sticky Note Planning System. This is something I actually learned in University, but I forgot about it and tbh, at the time I was completely oblivious of what we were doing during the exercise. Now it all makes sense. Basically, what you do is list your projects at the top, and under each project list the tasks that need to be done in order to complete that project. This way of planning helps so you can visually see what you need to do. And if you’re anything like me and like to visually touch and see things then this is probably a good organizational system and it could potentially be beneficial to you. Since I haven’t really done this myself, I will be testing it out with my own projects.
Since it’s October next week, I figured I’d use it to plan my content. I want to try and assign a food theme to each month. Each week will be something different but whatever we choose to eat it will have to be within the theme. For example. If we decided to do Italian food for the month, we would choose 4 foods we would like to make that are Italian inspired. Maybe Pesto one week, lasagna another, pizza the next and for the last week gelato. All vegan of course because the who point in this journey is trying to figure out how to live a fully vegan life. This can only be done by trial and error, just like most things in life. I think this will be a good system because you’ll be able to see your progress. How far you’ve come and how much further you need to go.
Sticky Note Planning System:
Top Row - list Project
Project Column - list tasks that need to be completed in order to complete the Project
Completed pile - After each task is complete you can take off the sticky note and move it to a completed pile.

Stick around for tomorrow for an update!
